Wisdom Circle

Wisdom Circle

The Wisdom Circle is an monthly gathering around the “HEARTH” to explore living wisdom every day.

In 2023 we will explore themes, such as “self-acceptance,” “giving,” “mountainous” and “reverence.”  Participants are encouraged to reflect on the monthly theme with support of a reflection and practice that I offer from my book Our Inherited Wisdom: 54 Inspirations from Nature and Poetry.  The focus is to revive our innate inter-relationship with all life and to reset our inner perspective to one of inclusivity and wholeness.

ONGOING – 3rd Thursday of each month, 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 PT, $15 per gathering

Inner Well-Being: Ancient Perspectives and Practical Insights

Inner Well-Being: Ancient Perspectives and Practical Insights

This class is part lecture and part guided explorations. You will discover the ways to grow inner resilience and clarity through timeless tools such as mantra, breath techniques, and holistic awareness.  You will also gather an understanding of the ancient rationale behind these practices to ease universal human tendencies of desire, anger, delusion, and fear.

The basis for this understanding will be grounded in wisdom from texts such as Samkhya, Yoga Sutra, and Bhagavad Gita, but also from life experiences and stories. Overall, you will learn how to observe patterns in your own body and breath and have a set of practical tools for self-care. (Note: this course is not a substitute for medical advice and care.)

Pathways to Quietude: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

Pathways to Quietude: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

In the midst of sweeping global changes, many of us are looking for reliable insight into re-orienting our perspective and lifestyle to foster clarity and peacefulness. Traditional cultures have long understood the nature of existence and the relevance of every aspect of life toward the well-being of the whole.

In this course, we will focus upon the 2,000-year-old text, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, to garner a glimpse of our individual capacity to stir or still the waves of life, including our sensory interactions, inner dialog, and life experiences. This course covers ancient yogic theory and its application to the everyday person. It is recommended that students have basic familiarity with The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Transcendental Love

Transcendental Love

Love sustains our passions and yearnings, holds us in times of joy and loss, nourishes our hearts, and melts our fears. It opens us to our deepest self and steadily supports us as we navigate the uncertainties of everyday life and re-create a world of wholeness. Through world poetry and references to ancient literature, we’ll explore the mysteries of the human heart from its initial urges to passionately cling to its graceful awareness of the love that is ever-present and beyond name and form. Within these explorations we’ll consider humans throughout history who have role modeled pure love.

We’ll explore a time-honored mapping of reality where there is a seamless connection between our outer and inner landscape. This map includes the five elements and their relationship to our senses and sensory experiences. Through exploring this mapping, we’ll gain insight into the relevance of spiritual values and behaviors (such as non-harming, reverence, non-greed, and kindness) to supporting our personal and collective well-being.
